I’ve been eyeballing alphabet building sets for sometime now and it dawned on me it’s such an easy DIY! Not only that, it’s a 2 for 1 activity for the kids because they can help decorate them. Download my free template here and have fun creating your own!
The kids loved painting them and my son was so excited to start building letters. He was so proud of his letter “H.” Alphabet building sets are great for letter recognition, learning the alphabet and building fine motor skills.

What You’ll Need
- Cardboard
- Scissors and/or an Xacto knife
- Cutting mat if you’re using an Xacto knife
- Template
- Your choice of materials for decorating

I Made
- 8 long straight pieces
- 8 short straight pieces
- 6 large curved pieces
- 6 short curved pieces
I recommend figuring out how many of each it’ll take to create your child’s name prior to tracing the template. This way you can adjust the quantities if needed.
I’d love to see what you create!
